    my new pc. . .

A couple of weeks ago i got my new pc my system specs are
    -Amd sempron 3100+
    -asrock A4 upgrade motherboard
    -ATI Radeon 9600 pro 256
    -512 ram

    and i run bf2 with
    geomotry-medium
    effects-medium
    terrain-medium
    texture-high
    lighting-medium
    4* AA
and all other stuff off or on low. i normally get around 35-90 ping and the performance seems perfectly fine on most servers, other servers i get some lag but i cn handle it easily. i dont get why most of you guys say things like you need at least 1 gig of ram and a good graphics card to run things smoothly? is it really necasary to spend a five to six hundred dollars to get a decent pc when i only payed 250 bucks?

I seriously doubt you are running the game with those specs at anything over 20 FPS.

ok mate 1) do you know what your talking about? 2)If you play my pc youll see why we spend the money as it will be more playable!

Why do we need need 1gb of ram (sometimes 2gb)? because we like to have a lag free game, it makes it load up quicker and is easier running multiple tasks.

Why do we spend alot of money on graphics? Well you only have to compare your screen shots against my grapphics card to see why!

and as the guy above me says its highly unlikly you can even hit medium and get between 35-90fps   with those specs as my mates pc with just about the same specs struggles with it. So my advise is go home and do your homework most of us know what were talking about and are not easily fooled :p

and the fact you bought your comp for 250 bucks is highly unlikely, if you did then upgrading is going to be hard work even doing anything to it is going to be hard and costly! You will probaly spend $600 making it play good in the future

when i get back to my house ill show you some screenshots with my fps im serious , why would i lie about something like this? that would just be stupid.
Also i had some pieces for my pc that i transfered to my new one.All i had to buy was the motherboard, cpu ,grahics card, ram and a new case. And it was in euros.
And seriously dont judge things when you have know idea about it, you might think im full of s*** but im telling the truth.

my friend has a laptop which has
          intel pentium 4
          Ati radeon 9700 128 mb
          512 ram
he plays everything at medium and only takes 2 min to load and is only laggy at the beggining.

hehe i play everything to the very maximum setting, including that 1 thing that says 1256 x 876 or w/e. i got that maxed out 2

              everything looks awsome.

also whats the difference from the 800 x 747 or w/e compared to the maximum 1256 x 984 (or w/e ever it is i forgot)

              ?

Re: my new pc. . .

I spent more on my RAM then you did on your computer. lol And $500? My CPU cost more than that. lol You drank 10 too many egg nogs to think you're couple hundred dollar rig can compete with my $3K rig. With computers, you get what you pay for.
It takes you a couple of minutes to load a map? I load a map between 15-20 seconds and verifying client data is about 20-25 seconds depending on the server. I've got 20 points before you even join the server dude. So think again before you say your cheap a$$ computer is as good as any of ours.

ok i didnt say it was a bad idea to buy a great pc i just said that people that dont have alot of money (me) dont have to buy top products to be able to play battlefield 2 in medium/high like i do even tho u dont believe me, im buying another 512 ram card to smooth things out but i seriously can play with those settings with only 512 ram, im not telling a lie or sumthin, and im sure that my pc cant compete with some of ur guys pc's.
anyway i do agree that sumtimes on certain servers that are on the other side of the planet i lag like hell but when i play on servers that are from the same country with an fps of about 80 i get around 90-100 fps and barely lag at all, but if you still dont believe all that ive said ill take a pic with my camera when im playing with my fps showing , but i wont be able to show you until the 5th coz im not at home.

My system is better than yours and I only get about 30fps or so while playing (****ing celeron) I play mostly low with texts on high (bf1942 low gfx, high texts trick doesn't seem to work )I've maxed out at 75 though. I find it quite impossible that you're getting that unless you are playing single player with 5 other bots or on a multiplayer server with 30 ping and less than 10 people on gulf of oman. Oh god I cracked the case! You know what he does?? He looks at the sky or ground!!!

You can not be getting 90fps on high settings with what you have. I'll bet my computer on it. It's not possible. People with 7800GTX 512 are having a hard time getting 90fps on high. Max every single vid option there is and see if you can ever play. I wouldn't be surprised if the game crashes on you. There's just no way you're getting 90fps on med/high settings with what you have.

like i said before i know most of you dont believe so theres no point in going on in this thread, i duno why i do get a good fps, all you guys say that its not possible but im playing with those settings daily mostly with no lag except for on Kubra Dam and Strike at karkand i lag like hell on nut otherwise all the other levels play great.

Of course you can run at those settings genius, it's not like it's going to run smoothly though.

At most, you are getting a 20 FPS average.
