To set the buttons on the mouse I use a program called Uberoptions.

I too would recommend Logitech's MX1000 mouse, purely because of the plethora of buttons on it which I have all assigned to weapons. Nice and fast weapon switching.

As for software to assign the weapons to keys I use a tool you'll find frequently mentioned and used by others in these forums called Logigamer http://www.logigamer.com/

i use the razer copperhead and i also own an mx1000. but i love the copperhead way more. althought it might not have the weights included it looks better and is more comfortable. it also has programmable buttons.
