u guys think that i should downgrade from a X2 3800+ to a 3500+ or something to get the 512 7800GTX. and whats the differnce between the X2 3800+ and the X2 4200+. cause i'm thinking in buying one

Its not a bad idea, though, a 512 7800GTX right now is kinda of a waste, with a late winter/spring refresh from both companies around the corner. Though, a 3500+/7800GT (325-375 USD) or GTX 256 (450-550 USD) is a good combo, as long as you got the ram as well to back it up.

3800X2 = 2.0ghz and 512k L2 Cache per core, 325-365 USD at some places
4200X2 = 2.2ghz and 512k L2 Cache per core, 421-476 USD
4400X2 = same as 4200X2, but with 1mb cache per core, 500-545 USD

Right now, more and more games are supporting Dual-Core useage, but it wont be until mid-2006/2007 til we see full utlization. Its a niffy thing to have, if you get the patches and slight tweaks right...

I can play high (except for no antialiasing) with my 6600gt, though the other cards mentioned here are probaly alot better. Got mine for $120.

If you are getting a motherboard with PCI express then the 7800GT is the way to go.
If your motherboard is AGP then 6800GT is the best you can get.

6800gs can play on all high with 2xAA and a gig of ram.

Yes, and you can overclock it past that.
