Choppy graphics, unplayable?!

Firstly I'd like to thank everyone who has provided help in the past. However this time I find myself in a unique situation. I have previously been playing under server 2k3 and enjoying bf2 quite nicely. I'm running:

P4 2.533 (478)
Asus p4t533-c
1 gig pc 1066 rdram (lol)
ati 850xt pe
creative audigy 2 platinum

this combo held together quite well under server, however as I just reformatted back to xp pro, I cannot play bf2 at all. the graphics are terrible, beyond terrible. Maybe 5 fps, maybe. I am positive I have the latest drivers for everything, and am clueless as to why the change of OS would so negatively inflict gameplay. Any ideas?

Holy nik-nak, 2k3 server runs sooooo many more processes than XP alone...

The only thing off the top of my head is that the standard drivers in XP an Svr2K3 are different...

I would check you have the latest BIOS and Graphics drivers for your system.

Ok, well thats the first thing to do...

I dont suppose you know if the driver you are using now is the same as the one you were using when you were running windows server?
