HDs question

I have this mobo:

I currently have 2 IDE drives and 2 CD drives (1 cd 1 dvd). the mobo has 2 SATA ports, so i was thinking of getting a 3rd drive (sata drive), and Im wondering if its gonna work with the 2 IDE drives I already have.

20-25 Watts When they are reading/writing .
But because this only happens when you are loading stuff or something, you will never encounter problems, because when loading stuff the other pc components like CPU/GPU don't run stressed .


so don't wurry about the power consumption.

About the installing, pieve of cake, just plug it in the mobo connect power cable to it, windows will probably install the disc itself, if not, just download some sata driver.

Other tip, some brands of sats discs, (like western digital) you have two power connectors on your SATA, a clasic 4 pin power connector and a SATA power connector, never connect both !! only use one of them (ether one) .
If you get one with only a sata power connector make shure your PSU has sata connectors and if not, buy an adapter for it (costs like 2$)

Does the regular SATA connector carry power as well or is it just a data cable? My PSU only has the 4 pin plugs that are sued in normal HDs and CDRs.

no, the data cable does not transfer power to the disc.

You need a SATA data cable, only 1 .

About the power connectors , SATA power connectors look like the left one on this picture


but if you don't have one on your PSU, you can always buy a adapter looking like this


but some brands like WD, they have the possibility to connect a classic power connector to your SATA disc, when you have this possibility, you only need to use OR the classic power connector OR the SATA power connector, never both at once
