Sorry i got mine at 540 clock 570 memory, i think is the memory that can't handle the OC, since the clock is at PE speeds, but the memory is lower, and now i dont get the artifacts.

yeah I noticed a different fan, actually I believe the only difference is it's placement. I don't know anyone who's used an HIS, be sure to followup with a review =)

All of the X850XT and PE fans are based on the silencers success.

End of the discussion, this is my choice.

                What's best?

Picking a X850XT PE with the stock ATi fan/design.

                or

Picking a X850XT with Hightech (HIS) fan, that's very silent.

                What'd you do?

I really don't think there's much of a difference. Like I said it just looks like the fan is placed differently. If you look at the other pictures, the bottom of the fan is fully exposed for about a quarter of the diameter. With mine it's just closer up to the "grill", and I certinally can't hear my XT PE's fan.

But note: I am only going by looks and guesses. I may be completely wrong.

Thank you for your answers. I'll phone the shop where I'm buying the card and ask which one is the best for me. :)

So to clear this up, there is no need to get a ATi Silencer 5(rev2) if you plan to overclock because the stock fan is pretty much the same design as the Silencer?

For the HIS versions, yes. But I don't know about the stock fans from ATi.
