Re: Is this a good system?

Uhm.....some links are pointed to the wrong site i think. The mobo links to a HP Computer and the Power Supply to a PC Case.

For heatsink i would go for a Zalman CNPS7000B AlCu. I have a Zalman CNPS9500 myself since i bought a AMD Athlon FX-57, and i must say it's a great cooler.

The memory is a good choice, i have Corsair XMS2048 TwinX myself.

          CPU is alright.

GFX Card, i had a couple of ATI Cards myself. Not long ago i switch to nVidia 7800 GTX in SLI (2 Cards), and BF2 looks much better. ATI Cards have some weird issues with Shadows and all that. If i was you i would take a nVidia 6800 GT.

Re: Is this a good system?

CPU is alright, but get a zalman for OCing.

I'd either go with the X800GTO2(mods great) or the 6800GS(comparable Geforce card).

That case sucks, and so does the PSU.

            Get a good brand mobo.

The RAM is fine, but you may want more, just get 2 gigs of valueram.

Get a different monitor, move up to 19in, you won't regret the extra few bucks. Also get a good brand like LG or Samsung. I personally have the dell 19in ultrasharp and it's amazing.

Re: Is this a good system?

Noni, all those things you posted are significantely more expensive than what he currently has. Post stuff that's near his current price range.

I'd just go with the following

Case: Antec PERFORMANCE TX640B w/ 400w PSU. 400W is PLENTY for what you're doing.

RAM: Stay with the Corsair XMS, it has better timings, and it's cheaper. Also it has 1200+ ratings, compare that with 2 for the gskill, I think the choice is clear. Again though, I'd get 2 gigs if I were you.

*I've only looked at the first post and none of the recommendations.*

                    Looks good, excellent even. I feel I must mention that some of the brands that you are going with, while they have a lot of reviews, and most of them good, you can get better and more reliable for that price range. That said, there are two things I would definately change;

                    1.) X800Pro? Ugh, I feel sick. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130258
I'm sure you can afford $1 more for something that beats a X850Pro.

2.) Windows XP x64 edition. Major driver issues. Most hardware doesn't work for it. On top of that, I doubt you would personally see any improvement over 32-bit Windows XP. Save yourself a lot of trouble and just go with 32-bit.
