    Re: My new computer

My quick impressions are you should ditch the MOBO with the VIA chipset in favor of an NForce4 one, and step the CPU down to a 3700+.

The 3700+ is better for overclocking than the 3800+.

Any reason your going with an extrnal sound device? FOr the much you could get an x-fi and have much better sound.

Yeah I agree. Also get some PC3200 ram like Flanker suggested.

Yea, other than the ones suggested it looks good. Though I feel I should take umbrage at the comment about switching from K8T800Pro (lookie my sig) as some of them overclock better than nF4, but yea nF4 has more support.

I used to own that board and it's an alright board. It doesn't overclock well and the VIA chipset doesn't have the best reputation. To me it's a middle of the road board.

The best board I've ever owned has to be this DFI Ultra-D.

The worst socket 939 board award goes to the MSI K8 Neo2 Platinum. I RMAed it 2 times before that piece hit ebay.

You need DDR not DDR2. PC-3200.

You need a sound card, yes. Get a sound blaster audigy 2, or X-Fi.

A good motherboard in your price range would be:

Don't get a soundcard so you can get 2GB of ram instead of 1GB. Also, don't for get about Windows.
