Re: Help: 4x512 or 2x1GB RAM?

    I have 4 x 512MB running on a Abit AV8 and A643200+. Its running 400Mhz but 2T timing. Not as bad as running 333Mhz, but I still don't like it >_<.

You're also running at DDR360...You'd probably get better performace if you brought that back up to DDR400 even if you had to lower your OC.

Here is the deal with running four sticks in an AMD if you guys aren't clear:

        Winchester and earlier AMD cores
        DDR333mhz and 2T
        low overclockability

        Venice and newer cores
        DDR400 and 2T
        low overclockability

Venice and newer cores coupled with DFI NF4 Expert/ATI RDX200 motherboard
        DDR400 and 1T
        no overclockability

Note: These guidlines are for ram rated at 1T only.

Not necessarily true, I'm limited to ddr333 and a 2t rate with my setup, which is why I'm shopping for new ram.

Well your ram must be rated at 2T only then. The guidlines don't account for ram thats not rated to run at 1T.

My ram is rated for 1t, it runs at 1t and ddr400 just fine if I'm only using two sticks.

I've never heard of this issue. Maybe it's your motherboard.

I don't know, I've been thinking about replacing the ram, just get 2x1gb sticks.
