How Much Ram Do You Really Need?

Found this writeup and thought some might want to read it as it has some BF2 results in it.

I have 2 gigs of HYPER X 3700 for the record.

512 is enough for smooth gameplay, but if you want INSTANT smooth (512 = lag for first 10 seconds of the map, (not round though)), but if you want a fast loading time 1-2 gigs are the way to go.

yes i found it interesting and it was a pretty good comparison from 512-2 gigs of ram.

Thank you, People post all that crap about 2 gigs being "so stuttering" and all that, but it really makes little difference!

              Load times are another thing.

Ah yes but don't mis-interpurt this. They only ran the benchmarks on an AMD based machine which is alright but if you're running Intel like I am, the 2GB is more then worth it.

2 gig for any processor is worth it, made a huge difference for me

didnt any of you read the second page of bf2 results? it shows that while it was only a small percentage average drop in frames, that is a result of frame rates jumping up and down all the time. Now you take and put that on a more mediocre machine that doesnt run the game at 60fps but instead at 30-40 and those frame rate jumps are going to bring you down to 15-25 frames which is unplayable. I got my GF 2 gigs OCZ Plat. Ram for Xmas :)....Becuase her game really stutters bad, hopefully 2 gigs of high performance memory will clear things up
