    7800 gtx

I used to have a 6800 gt. It chugged bad in sf but i just got a 7800 gtx 256mb and it makes a huge diff. The 6800 gt struggled in 64 player maps at just 1024 by 768 but with the 7800 gtx i can play at all high at 1240x1078 and get smooth fps.

Even warlord played fine. I did not think that this card would make a big diff but it does. You ppl should get 1 too. Just go to newegg.com sign up for preferred account and you dont have to pay for 6months on orders above $500

    Re: 7800 gtx

i as well am limited to 1280x1024 no aa to get a GOOD steady (40+ at ALL times, even in the palace in warlord) fps. stupid bf2 sf. i could do 1600x1200 at 4xaa on vbf2.

welcome to the land of the nvidia owners.

      Congrats on your purchase!

They seem like good cards; I like the fact that they offer the 7800 series with a waterblock already attached. I'm probably going to get those when I start building a new rig, I'm running a 6800 GT now... Been good so far, never had any problems with it.

That's only GT, but that's still a great deal, at the time i bought my comp, my X800XL cost 300bucks.

I thought all the GTX's were 512MB and 24 pixel pipelines standard and the GT's were 256MB and 20 pixelpipelines...?

No, some GTXs are 512mb, some are 256mb. THey both have 24 pipelines.

Is there something called diminishing returns after a certain level of money and energy you put into this game?

Yay, encourage people to get into debt..

I wouldn't call playing SF in 1280x1024@70Hz with 2xAA, high settings bar shadows set to low, dynamic light set to medium and getting 25-90+ fps (ave 40-50) chugging... ? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I'm happy with those settings using my 6800GT (bought with cash ).
Updating your drivers and tweaking a little may have saved you some money... You best start saving before the high interest kicks in.

well, i want all eye candy on and want to play at high so think it was a good investment. medium is ugly. Textures are all blurry compared to high
