    2800+ Sempron worth it?

I went shopping for a new case since my old one is being sold soon, and I happen to notice at my local Fry's Electronics that they are selling a bare 2800+ Sempron 64 cpu for just 41 USD! I heard of these things OCing quite well...

Question: pairing that CPU with the DFI LANPARTY nF3 250gb, OCing it to at least 2.0-2.2ghz with a good heatsink, would it be a "well-spent" budget upgrade until I do my massive overhaul next year?

(Overhaul = after probably april 15th with tax returns =D)

Yeah, I've got a Sempron 2600 in my other system, Overclocked it to 2.0 on stock cooling without any problems. It's a nice little chip, blows the Celerons out of the water big time.

I'd get it, even if you fry it you only spent 40 bucks, and it should be a good chip once you oc it.

Or you could cheat a bit like me, and take advantage of newegg's current preferred account special, no payments for 6 months on orders over $500. I was approved for 2k instantly... and I plan to pay off a bit here and there until tax return time and then pay it all off before the finance charges start to hit. That way you can get a new system now instead of after April... unless you're wanting to stick it out and wait on a new technology, like the M2 socket or a new radeon core.
