      Re: Power supply

Sorry to hijack your thread, but im currently looking to get more or less the same specs, and am in need of upgrading (among most other things) my PSU. Im currently looking @ this:

Discover the latest products from the biggest names in tech at BT Shop. Find deals and offers on laptops, TVs, home phones, smart home systems and more

It looks like it will do the job but, then theres this:

Discover the latest products from the biggest names in tech at BT Shop. Find deals and offers on laptops, TVs, home phones, smart home systems and more

which costs less than half the price. What am I to look for? will the cheaper one do the job or is just likley to burn out?

fyi, my specs are AMD Athlon 64 3700, GeForce 6800GS 256MB and 2 GBs of RAM

        Ok, good brands:
        OCZ
        ANtec
        Enermax
        FSP

That's all i can think of in 10 seconds. ANyways, get at least 22 amps on the +12v rail. Preferably, get one with dual +12v rails and have a combined amperage of over 30 is very solid (like mine).

            Re: Power supply

I would get no less than 26amps on the 12v rail and active PFC.

Late post kinda, but throw a Hiper Type-R 580watt PSU in there - very damn good from a recent build I did for a friend. If price is an issue though, Antec does have their Truepower 2.0's for 50-90 USD if you look around.

Any word on Ultra's X-Connect 2's? I hear they did change PSU parts makers and they are now damn good for what the price is...
