Power and video card question

I am upgrading my video card here soon and I was looking at a picture of the 6600gt, and I notice it has white connectors to plug into the video card and two other ones. The two other ones I have no idea where to plug those in, I decided to go inside my computer and take a look. I look at my power supply wires and all the white ones are plugged into a certain thing in my computer (HD,etc.) Then I noticed two black ones. Do I plug in the white connectors from the video card into the black connectors from the power supply? Thanks for any help I get.

That is an adapter. It will take the standard power adapter and fit it to the cards adapter, and then pass the power onto another periphral (I can't spell, lol).
