What helps with faster load times....

I have both an X2 4400+ oced to 2.8GHz and 2X1GB Crucial memory. I also have a half empty 36GB Raptor hd. After the first map has loaded, each map after that loads in about 12-14 seconds and verifying client data took 18-20 seconds. Now with just 1GB, 1 stick is bad, my load times have doubled. So from my experience so far, load times are affected more by ram than hds. I've seen lots of questions about this and now I think I have a pretty good answer for it. I'm not saying that I'm completely right, but I think I have enough proof to help sway the answers to this question.

Loading times are all about digging the stuff into the RAM and using it. Thats why it takes so much time. Verifying client data is on the CPU and HD

With 2 Gb of RAM and 3.4Ghz I ususlly find myself first on a fresh map. Gets me all vehicles and usually time to cap 1 or even two flags! woohoo

Read somewhere you can designate RAM to either system cache or some program...I'm not sure how that works or what that would do to your loading times.

I'm the same way rtgbs. If I'm MEC on Sharqi, I can get in the tank, and cap the 2nd flag before anyone notices. Usually, we always when if I do stuff like that.

I thought this was common knowledge.

The faster you can load a map from hard drive to RAM, the faster your map loads, i think thats it.

RAM = biggest effect on load times.

Actually CPU core speed affects load times the most, then amount of ram, and last is Hard drive speed.

Going from a 1.8Ghz AMD 64 to 2.7Ghz decreases load times by 25%. Going from 1Gb to 2Gb of ram will decrease load times by 10% - 20%, and the fastest hard drives will decrease load times by maybe 5%.

All I know is that I used to play bf1942 with 256mb ram and it would take about 4 mins to load a map but when i got another 512mb it took about 40 seconds

RAM mostly. I load pretty damn fast with 1.5gb, depending on server. During my CAL days, it used to be nearly instanteous...

Do you have tests to prove this is true? Anyone can make up numbers. Plus if you read his specs rather then just posting....you'd see he already has a nice fast machine.

I have a few independant tests, but Anandtech is where I got most of the info. I know he has a nice machine, but my post was pretty much for general information.
