Faster RAM or CPU?

I have some DDR 333 kingston value RAM and a P4.2.8

The question to you guys is what upgrade would be better this...

How would upgrading my CPU help and how will upgrading my RAM help?



P.S. Don't tell me to go AMD because i'm saving up for a kick a$s AMD but I still want my intel kicking sum a$s too :)

Faster CPU > Faster RAM

However for what you'd spend on that CPU you could get a new AMD and MOBO.

2gigs and like I said I'm building a AMD too but I want to keep the Pentium lol.

i agree with the last posting, 2gb is enough for now. get a faster cpu or a better graphics card. what kind of graphics card do you have? or get a better isp. cable normally beats dsl.

yea, since you have 2 Gb of RAM already a faster CPU will probably give you more performance gain.

BF2 is thoroughly dependant on a fast CPU and since you got the RAM covered I would go CPU also.
I would invest in a good Zalman fan though, those Prescotts run HOT!

Get the cpu, 2gbs of ram is enough for now.

To point, out don't waste money on RAM or a GPU till you have a fast MB and CPU. I have a 6800GT which is is fine for BF2 in MEDIUM settings, but runs like crap in BF2 as I have a 2.4 NON 64 AMD and a 100mhz MB with a 4x AGP. As soon as I get 8x AGP and a decent CPU the 6800 should work a bit better, but right powered by a 2.4 and 4x agp it's pants!

guy above good advice but lets stay on topic at hand,

You should get a CPU upgrade because even thought u got all teh ram in teh world you still need a faster CPU to run everything good and smoothly at once. If you got RAM>CPU there is a problem, but if you got a great CPU and good size RAM, you will be set for a good gaming rig.

More RAM (2GB or less) > Faster CPU > Faster RAM

2 gig of RAM is all you need for BF2, anymore and you would just bottleneck your CPU, if I were you hold off on the CPU, just buy the dam AMD processor and thats it.

I'm not saying get more RAM but upgrade to faster RAM instad of the "value" one I have now. I'm just going to get that CPU.
