    vid problem

    guys,
i did 2 things at once and can't figure out where the problem is, but...

i just got bf2 sf. nice addition and worth the $21 i paid IMO.

    patched etc.. it works fine.

i also just installed my 2nd XFX 6600GT in SLI. now here's the problem:
yes both cards are the same. yes, the are running fine everywhere BUT BF2.

i have a vertical transparant green line about 1/2 inch thick and 2 skinny white lines on either side running about an inch from the left side of my monitor. it only is visable during bf2. my other games (far cry, SOF2 ) are fine.

temperature is 89 in cpu and 96 MB so i'm sure the vid temps are ok too. my aquamark score is 75,000 so i know the cards are ok too. (before dual sli i got 60,000)

any idea what could be causing this? i tried lowering my settings that had no effect either.

thanks for any help you can offer...

Have you tried altering the resolution? That might help.

I'm a little baffled why your MB temp is higher than the CPU. Is that right?

He is quoting in farenheit Bucket, but even at that yes it is a bit high, mine runs at around 80*F.

When you run an SLI machine the cards have to be exactly the same! Same bios, etc. Also try re-installing your video drivers as they will differ from a single card setup.

            Re: vid problem

            guys,
            first, thanks for the replies.

the cards are both the same
            XFX 6600 GT 128MB PVT43GNDF3

i have the latest graphics drivers from nvidia on both cards:
            ForceWare Release 80
            Version: 81.95
            Release Date: November 22, 2005
            WHQL Certified

i also have the latest NForce drivers:

            nForce4 AMD Edition - Windows XP/2000 (32-Bit)

            Version: 6.70
            Release Date: October 26, 2005
            WHQL Certified

KingOfKhaos mentioned BOIS. that's for the OS not the card right? if i need to check something else on the card, i'll gladly check if you can explain where to look.

again, it's only a problem with BF2. i get it on BF2 AND SF also

BTW system specs really quickly are
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI MOBO
            AMD 3500+venice OC to 2700 from 2200
            1 GB (2 pcs 512) DDR (550) PC-4400 Corsair (TWINX1024-4400C25PT)
            ROSEWILL RE502 500w power supply

yes, i connected the molex connector on the motherboard for dual vid card use. i double checked the SLI bridge and SLI "chip" on the motherboard too.

            i'm stuck...

              Re: vid problem

ok i'll respond to myself since i THINK i figured it out:

i reinstalled, rolled back drivers all kinds of crap. i FINALLY found this on NVidia's SLIzone:

What are the green lines that appear on my screen when in SLI Mode?
If you see horizontal or vertical green lines on your screen (shown here), it means that you have "Show GPU load balancing" enabled in the NVIDIA Display control panel. When enabled, this option shows how your GPUs are sharing the graphics load. For games that are rendered using AFR (alternate frame rendering), a green vertical bar will grow up and down on your screen, depending on the amount of scaling. For games that are rendered using SFR (split-frame rendering), a green horizontal line will move up and down on your screen, showing how the load is being balanced between each GPU. If the upper half and the lower half of the screen have a similar level of detail, the horizontal line will stay close to the middle.

so, i disabled load balancing and will try after dinner. if i don't follow up with another edit, it's fixed and hopefully someone else can use the info i found.
