Im planning on buying my friend vid card : ATI Radeon 9600 256mb.

He sells me for 80$ CAN so it's a good deal for a high school student who doesnt want to waste money on computer. But my dad just told me to avoid updating my computer 'cause maybe there will be imcompatibility with my motherboard (ASUS K8V-X).

I really want this card cause Im gettting bored of my FX5200 and want to play without lag.

So can ya guys tell me if this card will run perfectly without problem on my current motherboard ?

It will work fine as long as you have the right port for the card, and if he is your friend why don't you just ask him to see if it works in your computer first, pretty damn simple.

^it's pretty damn simple, my friend and me just suck in computers. I even dont know what's the difference between AGP and PCI express... I just know that my motherboard only support AGP.

by the way just another question : What happens if I plug a AGP 8x card on a motherboard which has only an AGP 4x ?

Nothing bad, if thats what you're wondering, there really is no difference between agp 4x and 8x, except 8x has more bandwidth (which isn't really being used).

That card will work fine with that Mobo. Go to Start-Control Panel-Add/Remove programs and uninstall the current video driver. Power off and unplug the computer. Open the case, remove the old card, plug in the new card, turn on the computer, place the installation cd in the cd drive. Cross your fingers and follow the prompts. Then say a little prayer and hope all is well. You should be just fine.
