    NVIDIA's hidden BF2 profile found

    Ok folks it was speculated in another thread that NVidia hardcoded game profiles into there drivers well they do'nt these profiles can be found in a file " C:\WINDOWS\system32\NVAPPS.XML " and you can edit it with notepad ( back it up first before you mess with it ).

    Here is the section with the hidden profile for BF2 form the file:

    <PROFILE Label="Battlefield 2">
    <APPLICATION Label="BF2.exe"/>
    <APPLICATION Label="+menu.exe"/>
    <APPLICATION Label="+playNow.exe"/>
    <PROPERTY Label="multichip_rendering_mode" Value="2001" Itemtype="predefined"/>
    </PROFILE>

    I have tested running BF2 with this deleted out & I there was no difference on my machine. I could not find that other thread about this so I made a 1. This aint no tip or trick just some info I thought I'd share.

    sorry but before posting crap like this, maybe you should look up what it means first.

    Ever heard of SLI ?
    well, SLI needs to be suported in the nvidea driver for every application, otherwise SLI won't work and you will only have one vid card working.

    Why ?
    Well, Nvidea looks wich SLI mode is working best in a game (there are three modes) , then they put this in a profile for every game , wich SLI rendering the game must use.

    So for about 300 games at this moment there are profiles.

    Why it didn't had any effect with you is because you don't have SLI and the profile isn't used, simple as that.

    And if you look good in your video options, you will find all lited games and you can even make your own profiles, but these are other ones then the one you post here.

      Re: NVIDIA's hidden BF2 profile found

      I never claimed that I know what this stuff does, what it meens or that anyone should mess with it. I made this thread because of another thread that speculated about NVidia hardcoded this stuff in & some with older cards where changing the name of the BF2 executible to get around it & getting some preformance boost. So this thread is just for info nuth'n else. So its there for those who have SLI big deal, if you dont like my crappy thread keep it to yourself.
