Building a comp

I'm planning to build a computer that i hope to get for christmas and i have been working on planning it for a while now. So far, its pretty much come down to this, and this is all from newegg.com cause i figured they had the cheapest prices:

It all equals to $944.49 USD. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the best value for my money, but is there any changes that would make it better? Like I was thinking about instead of the 6800 gt put in the 7800 gt but I'm not sure. If theres any way to lower the price that would be great too. Thanks for any suggestions

If you want all high settngs get another gig of RAM, and yea mayb the 7800, but dont get the GT, get the GTX.

What's the difference between the Gt and the Gtx. the only difference i know is the gtx is expensive as hell and the gt is at least reasonably priced.

GTX has 4 more pipes. The GT is the better value IMO, it can be overclocked to match the GTX.

But the GTX still has the extra 4 pipes, so unless you can unlock too, it won't be as fast. Anyways, you can oc a GTX to get even farther, so if a GT overclocks by 50mhz on mem and core, the GTX can as well. But i must agree, the Gt is a way better value, anyways, you can still rn all games out right now on all high.

Well, i recently changed 1 Gb to 2GB(2X1GB). Also, do you think that if i change the 6800 gt to a 7800 gt, it will be bottlenecked by the processor?

THe vid card is NEVER, and i say NEVER bottlenecked by the processor when playing on high settings. When you're playing at all low setting and fps cap off, the CPU is what a game depends on. WHne you put it to actual settngs gamers use, the GPU bogs down teh CPU. SO i say go ahead with the upgrade. And if anybody objects to these facts (really they are facts) i got links for how games ARE cpu dependent at low settings w/o fps cap, and how the GPU becomes the bottleneck at high settings.

Ditch the 6800gt, get either the 7800gt, or the 6800gs, both are good (though the 7800gt is much better). Get 2gbs of ram (2x1gb), and get a sata hd, like this one:

way better than the one you have now.

why are u spending so much on an audigy 2? Get an audigy 2 zs OEM for 40-50 bucks. Or add 20 bucks and get the X-Fi XtremeMusic.

Yeah, don't spend over at most 60 bucks on a ZS, they are now officially last gen.

I've read that the sound card messes up your mic. Makes it screech and such. Sorry to get off the subject, but do sound cards help alot if you use headphones?

When i looked at newegg.com for an audigy2 ZS oem the cheapest one there is $70.00. Where can i get that $40-$50 one?
