So I currently have 2x512 RAM at DDR 400, but I have 3 slots in my mobo, and with my mobo if I add RAM to the 3rd slot it will make it all run at DDR 200. So I can add 1 GB to the 3rd slot and have 2GB total running at DDR 200, or keep my current setup with 1GB at DDR 400. what do you think will be better performance-wise in BF2. (I know 2x1GB is best case scenario, but I'm tryin to save money). Thanks!
1GB RAM at DDR 400 or 2GB RAM at DDR 200?

Re: 1GB RAM at DDR 400 or 2GB RAM at DDR 200?
If you have an AMD64, you don't go from 200MHz to 100MHz. It's 200MHz to 166MHz if I'm not mistaken. Also with AMD, you don't want odd amounts of ram. Get 2X1GB or nothing at all. If its a crappy Intel, you can mix and match.

Re: 1GB RAM at DDR 400 or 2GB RAM at DDR 200?
Are you sure it didn't just say it would run at 200mhz, not drr200? If it said 200mhz, that still means DDR400.

yeah I have an AMD64, and yeah I'm pretty certain it goes from DDR 400 to DDR200. I have 2x512mb Corsair XMS DDR 400, which I THINK is double sided. here's the chart

Most modules over 256mb are double sided...though you CAN find single sided modules in 512mb size.
I would suggest "testing" using 2 gigs with the knowledge and intention of returning the ram and ordering it from a cheaper place after you have determined it works better or worse...
That's what credit cards are for :)
