Do you want to go dual or single core?

Then either the 165 or 170,both really good for the price.

Yes, to both questions. It might be hard to find 165 right now, amd's been having supply issues.

No, they are discontinuing the opteron 165 is why it's in short supply. Get the 170.

From what I've been reading, they said they were discontinuing it, then they said it was just a supply issue. I'll go ask eclipse on the [h]ardforum, he should know whats up.

ok, how 'bout the opty 175? that's well w/in my price range, but is it worth every dollar as far as.. does it OC well, gaming, etc..? or if not, i was looking at a x2 but forgot which one.

EDIT: and what's better, an opty or athlon 64 x2? is this good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103546

It would be good for gaming, and it should be an excellent overclocker. Dual core opterons are the same as the x2 except that they are cheaper, and higher quality.
