New Videocard, 7800 GT ?

i guys i am looking for a new videocard

i dont have money for 7800 GTX ( GT is affordable but with budgeting on the rest of my life )

i have AMD 64 3200 socket 939 @ 2 ghz
Nforce 4 ultra motherboard
512x 2 Corsair Value select 400mhz
160 GB harddisk

and 6600 GT wich is g*y , i want to run BF2 at high settings
( i know i need 2 GB ram, its coming )

is the 6800 GS / GT a good choise ? or wait for the 7800 GS or the 7800 GT
SLI is not an option for me, because i dont have SLI :) and sli sucks in many games

what is your advice ?

go for 7800GT i got one and it rocks.
6800GS is also a very good option or search for the new 7800GS

Since you got RAM coming in, you can bump up the settings a bit on that 6600GT. To run this game at high settings, a 6800GS at least is a good choice if money is a big big issue. 7800GS's arent confirmed yet so I wont believe it til I see it =P. A 7800GT is also good, i've seen it for as low as 325 (without rebates) at newegg.com so you might want to try that...

yeah , 7800 GT is also good for future gaming

so i get my ram in february and 7800 GT before that

and then maybe BF2 SF pack

Your specs look like mine man dont worry it a super good card.. and iven if theres better cards that comme out you just buy another 7800gt SLI.
Then later get the 1 gig... thats what am doing right now :-)

But you will get the same graphics as a 7800gtx I love it Everything on hight 4xaa
I strongly recommande this card coz its in the G7 family...

You can get either the 7800gt or the 6800gs, the gs is about $120 cheaper than the gt, though the gt might last you longer. Just pick what you are most comfortable buying.

Well if you'd ever consider ATI the X1800 XL is a good option. Got mine today and it constantly doubles or triples my old X850s FPS(used to be 15-25 fps, now im 30-90 constantly karkand 64 player), w/ 6x AAA and 16x HQAF (settings my old 850 couldn't even enable) Its amazing and easily OCed to 575 core and at that speed my friends 7800 GT simply can't keep up, and right now its 350 at www.zipzoomfly.com for the ATi retail version. Well back to BF2 w/o choppy firefights YAY!

mm.. i prefer Nvidia, and the x1800 XL is way over my budget plan :P

i just wanna run BF2 at high settings, and maybe 4xAA or 6x and 4xAF thats it :P i dont see the big difference between multisampleling orsomething :P

Thats nice and all, but no one has any idea when the 7800gs might come out, so I say still go with the gt.

LoL idd, with the 7800 you got 100 FPS ? in bf2 , why overclock and risk your expensive card ? LoL , well overclocking can be like drugs, addicted :P

but when i got 1 GB ram + 7800 GT , what can i run on high and what on med ?

As long as you don't go above 1280x1024, it should work out to everything on high, with textures on medium.
