Can't decide...

Im gonna upgrade next year, and I need some help. Im gonna have 1 gig, 6600gt, P4. 3.2, 480 watts, and the motherboard. I wanna keep everything else, but should I change the P4 3.2 to a Athlon 3500 or the 6600GT to 6800GT. Im thinking Athlon, but I want others opinions.

If I have enough money by then, maybe i'll get both. As of right now though, im not positive. Also, will this get high settings?

Don't get the 6800GT, get th 6800GS, it has only 12 pipes, but it does as good as the X800XL/6800GT cause of clock speeds. It also oc like mad, heres a link: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...ce-6800gs.html
The GS is like 50 bucks cheaper than the GT, and does as well, and oc like mad. Anyways, how much money are you willing to spend?

Like I said, im not really positive on how much money i'll have by then. Im thinking of letting one of my computer shops build me the thing, since i've never built one, and im not positive on what exact parts and such I should buy.

The guy said it'll cost 700$ for the parts im getting, so maybe around that price.

Like eddy said, you should get a 6800gs, not a gt, and you should definately go AMD. But if you wanna run all on high, you're going to have to get another gig of ram.

It costs 200 on newegg.com, the 6800GT after rebate costs 250 bucks, so that's even better for you. You get 6800GT performance at the price of a vanilla 6800.

Could you maybe ask the guy building it for you what componets your getting to make sure your not getting ripped off?

Overall, a nice comp. I'd think about getting a better psu though, I haven't heard much about that one. The mobo seems to be on the cheap side, but since it's free there's not much to compain about, and as long as you're getting another 1 gig stick in the future, the ram looks good too.

Stick with what you were gonna get, there really is no difference between the crucial and corsiar sticks, except the one your friend recommended is more expensive.

It's much better at overclocking. Same stock clock speed,but you could overclock it over 3ghz on stock HSF.
