Does anybody know if you can run two of the new XTX 7800 512MB cards in SLI mode, particularly on an ASUS8N32 Deluxe board? I'm installing an FX57. Can't make heads or tails of the info.....

Yes you can, but the processor will be a huge bottleneck. You can't really do much about that, though.Comment

Re: New 512MB cards in SLI.....
Really, the GPU is actually bottlenecking a CPU. Our cpu's are held back by GPU's in games otherwords: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...u-games_3.html
Look, when put for pure speed, the GPU is not bottlenecking the CPU and therefore the CPU's can make the FPS much better. But put on high settings, and aa and af, the GPU starts to bog the CPU down. THe CPU is actually the most important part of a computer for gaming. It's just GPU tech can't keep up, so therefore, at the time teh GPU is the most important.Comment

Not necesarily, in fact I'm willing to bet that with 2 gtx 512mb the cpu will be a bottleneck.Originally posted by FlankerOoh yes it can. If theres a bottleneck, it won't be the CPU.Comment

Yes with dual 7800's the CPU does become the bottleneck.Originally posted by FlankerOoh yes it can. If theres a bottleneck, it won't be the CPU.
No you estimated fine. Don't be misinformed.Originally posted by Blak_Pheonix_MBReally??? Wow.. well i guess i really underestimated the CPU's then lol.Comment

Yeah, this guy is rightOriginally posted by FlankerOoh yes it can. If theres a bottleneck, it won't be the CPU.
. The CPU will never be a bottleneck unless GPU tech just jumps like crazy. THe CPU is actually the most important part of the pc for gaming, and other applications like office applications. It's just for gaming, when playing on highest settings and what not, the GPU starts to bog down the CPU.
