I need a new mobo. (motherboard). How would i know if it's compatible with my current system?

Download a program called Everest Home edition, it will be ablye to tell you more than you ever needed to know.

The problem i have are these pci slots. I have

2.8 ghz p4
512 ram
nvidia 5700 w/ intel onboard

I need apg slots or pci-e. Using Dell 4700.

There is nothing about sockets in the CPU or the Motherboard sections.

Dude,

If you're about to buy a Mobo, here's some very spotty advice at best. You'll need to get your priorities together first.

1. If you want to run dual video cards in SLI mode, here's the only three that run true full 32 PCIe slots:
Any Intel chip - The new Dell Motherboard...don't know how you'll get that by itself.
AMD Fx57s and AMD 64 chips - ASUS8N32 Deluxe...just out.
The AMD Opteron chip - The Tyan Thunder PCI 32 slot board (which also does dual chips if you want to expand)

2. On single video cards, any Gigabyte or Asus board with a PCI Express slot that says....Intel chip. Everything else should fit, I believe. Pretty simple.
