6600gt128mb vs x800gt 256mb

Well I'm new here, and I searched for things alike this but I'm getting a new computer and these are the 2 graphics cards in my price range and I'm just wondering what would be better for battlefield 2 (which I will be playing mostley).

Nvidia 6600 Gt 128 mb
VS
ATI X800 GT 256mb

Remember I will be playing Battlefield 2 mostley. Thanks for any help.

Looking at the 128 vs 256 MB RAM that would decide my choice already. Go with the card that has 256 of the two.

Here's a review of the x800 GT where it is also compared to the 6600 GT and tested in BF2 also.

Well, if you can spare the money, get the GTO2, or the 6800GS. The GTO2 goes at about 200 bucks, and can unlock and overclock to about the speed of X850XT. THe 6800GS is the replacement fo rhte 6800GT, it costs only 210 bucks, it overclocks like crazy. Go to www.xbitlabs.com, and then click on video, and look at the article about the 6800GS. It overclocks too well. BUt if i could choose only from those, i would choose the X800GT, has 256bit mem interface, and btw, the 6600GT 256mb is going at close to 180 bucks. THere actualy is a 6600GT 256mb.

Hmm.. I just read the comparison you linked to and the 6600 GT beats the x800Gt in BF2. Not only that But the 6600 GT can be had for 120$ , while the cheapest I saw a x800gt 256mb was 169$.

Here's the exact quote from anandtech:

Unfortunately, the X800 GT performs the worst all around in this game, with the exception of the 6800, just barely beating it by a few tenths of a frame at 1600x1200 with AA enabled. These settings make the game basically unplayable on all of the cards, except the X800 XT of course.

Because this game is one of the most graphically demanding games out right now, you won't really be able to get a good gaming experience with the X800 GT at any resolution above 1280x1024. However, that resolution provides a smooth framerate (without AA) and will be more than playable, providing you with hours of BF2 glee.
