probably a motherboard and new ram... those 4 usually go together:

motherboard, cpu, ram, video card.

what are your current specs?

i cant really remember but i think my motherboard is an nvidia one, i know my cpu is an amd xp 1800+ i think my motherboard is fine but ill ask the people at the store when i take it to upgrade.

whats a psu?
i think i know what im buying to upgrade my pc,

Amd Athlon 64 3500 + : 190$
nVidia Geforce 6600GT 156 bit Special Edition: 130$
new motherboard (duno what it is yet): 50$
1 512 ram card: 40$
i dont have that much money so this is basically the best i can buy.
is that a good price? obiviously over time ill buy more ram and stuff.

Power supply unit.

If you upgrade components you will most likely need a more beefier PSU to power them

Post your current specs.

Well, I bet you should get a new computer. Chances are your motherboard is only AGP for videocards, and if you know you need a new video card you better go to PCI Express.

im not building it myself, im going to bring it to the shop and tell the people what i want in it then they will put it in and i wont have any problems, how much does a psu cost?

download and run CPUZ. it will tell you what cpu model, mobo and ram info you have. that might help us tell you what you need. :)
also look at the power supply and find out how many watts it is.
