64-bit or 32-bit?

I have an AMD 64 running Windows XP 32-bit. I'm pondering reinstalling (it's been almost a year! :)) and am wondering what everyone would suggest regarding XP 64-bit.

- Is it worth it?
- Any problems with it as far as compatibility is concerned?
- Anyone using 64-bit XP?

If your wondering about compatibility people are going to want to know the rest of the specs of your system especially your motherboard.

Personally, I don't tihnk it is worth the investment at this point. Especially if you aren't running anything coded for 64bit, you'll hardly notice any difference. I had it for a few months had some hardware issues, found the workarounds, had some software issues, found the workarounds, got sick of work arounds and reverted to 32bit. If you want a 64 bit OS run Linux, but get used to the idea of UT2004 or Quake instead of BF2, or most of the other games that come out.

Well I already own the 64-bit version of XP (free through college) but am just wondering if I were to reinstall Windows, should I go with 32 or 64?

Make sure that all hardware you own has 64 bit drivers avaliable for them.
If you are sure that all of your stuff will be supported then yes, go for it.

im using a copy, LEGAL, of x64 and i like it, dont realy know the diff, since im usto of it

64-bit will give you a performance increase however I would wait for Windows Vista to come out as it will offer the first true 64-bit OS (not "floating 64" as XP-X64 is).

And yes the driver support isn't there, most major companies (ATI, Nvidia, Creative, etc) have 64-bit drivers now though.
