zalman heat sink not detected

i just bought a zalman 9500 heatsink and installed it, everyhting runs fine and cool but my asus motherboard isnt detecting that the fan on the heatsink is even spinning, its not that it concerns me that much, but my A.I. software has an ability to change the speed of my fan but since its not being detected i cant do that
i have the fan pluged into my mother board but there r multiple plugs the one i pluged it into is a little 3 pin connecter that says nothign next to it, and the other is a 4 pin connecter that says cpu fan next to it, onloy problem is the fan plug is only 3 pins.

take off the fan warning in the BIOS under Hardware monitoring, it dosnt detect mine either, thats why it came with the FanMateII

i alrdy disabled it put the fan controler doesnt seem to crank it up, unless that is the highest it can go. i just wanna test my system with overclocking and my temps get to high when i bring my cpu higher than 3.6

Unless the fan has a 4pin plug, monitoring wont work. Does it have a bolt on fan you could exchange, or is it built in to the HS like most Zalmans?

mine sometimes reaches 2000rpm on full, it stays close to 1000rpm at low

You need a 4-pin model for throttling/control. Chances are you have 3-pin.

Most likely your fan is rotating so slow that the BIOS can't read it. I've seen it several times with various fans. In order to read the speed of a fan you need a 3rd pin. Red and black for power and yellow for the fan speed. Most BIOS'es regulates the fan speed by reducing the voltage to the fan. I have yet to see a 4 pin CPU fan connector so I'm wondering if you might have confused it with another connector near by?

zalman is a 3pin connector, just turn up when your playing or doing some heavy stuff, all other times keep it low, unless your room is the hot one

I had that problem too, the fan I picked on my xp-90 was only a 3 pin.

don't get it, what is the 4th pin ???
you have two pins for power and one pin for frequentie, meaning it can read the RPM .

I also have the 9500cpu cooler, sits on the mobo with a 3pin connector and I can read the rpm of the fan , runs on about 1000rpm slow and 2400 high , mine runs on about 1700rpm .

If it gives you an alarm, you can set this of in the bios, and about the bios beeing a regulator for your fan, well, ain't actualy very effective with that cooler because the min temp you can set will be like 50 degrees or something, so the fan will run always on slow wich you can do manualy offcourse

3rd pin is probably for temperature control (which is automatic) for physical control over the fan though I believe you need a 4th pin. You can just disable the alarm in BIOs and it will stop beeping at you.

this is impossible,

for physical control over the fan you only need two pins, these are the power lines, and those can rase or lower the fan speed, nothing else can do that.

third pin is frequenty , this one can mesure the rpm of the fan .

if a fan has a temperature control of it's own, then it has nothing to do with the pins, this is just a simple resistance (don't know if I use the correct word here) wich is temp sensitive , wich is put between the powerline of the fan.

So, I still wunder what the hell that fourth pin would be, I actualy have never seen a fan with 4 pins, or a connector with four pins
