    Cpus and BF2

    Link: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...-games2_3.html
Look at the difference between a 3200+ and a FX-57 in BF2, that just proves what everybody is sayin that mem and vid card are the only things that BF2 cares about. BUt don't take this too seriuosly, better cpu means better performaance in general for pc.

Lol, did you even look at the text or only the benchmark? The videocard is bottlenecking the CPUs.

Ok, the vid card is a 7800GT, unless you're wacko, the vid card can't get TOO much better, the best is like 2 X1800XTs or 2 7800GTXs. SO it can't bottleneck to much. That also, if most people that play BF2 have cards mostly from 6600GT-X850XTPE, then there's even less difference i guess. Plus, why are you so angry at me, it's like you have declared an official blood feud on the forum with me.

The fact is that the videocard (or something else, but they say videocard) is bottlenecking the CPUs.

        Also, look here

Same site, previous article. There is clearly a 200fps difference between the 3200+ and the FX-57.

I'm not the only one being hostile, you hate me too :)

Well, sorry, i just get a bit frustrated after long days of work (yeah, i had to work overtime today). Can you forgive me, or vice versa, or whatever.

Oh, and i'm not hostile now because i just took a nice, hot 20 min. shower, that clears most of my frustration.

My frame rate went from 30-40 to 60-90 after getting an AMD 3500+, upgrading from a 2ghz P4.

Well, the 2ghz P4 is almost at the minimum reqs. so that would make a change. Plus, Intel isn't good for gaming, AMD is. Anyways, i'm just saying that if yu have a processor over 3ghz or amd equivelent (3000+) there shouldn't be too much difference, that is if you're running like all high on highest resolution. For pure speed on BF2 it probably will make a difference.

See. Thats why I so tempted to bash you. YOU ARE WRONG. GIVE UP. That was the lamest post that I've seen in a long time. Did you even see the first half of that article? There is a 200fps or 40% difference between the 3200+ and the FX-57. Processor doesn't just make a little difference, it makes THE MOST difference, provided you have a video card that can handle it.

And papi4baby, a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 is no match for a 2.0GHz Athlon 64 as far as Battlefield 2 goes.

There are too many factors to just dismiss one component or the other. For BF2 you have to have top of the line everything. If you have a good CPU and crap VGA you're screwed. If you have a rockin' VGA and a crap CPU you're screwed. If you have both a CPU and VGA worth a damn, but only 512-1GB ram, you're screwed. That is from first hand experience.

I did, i said that on pure speed it does, on the settings they tested on it was medium, no aa, no af, and 1024x768, exactly what i said. But if you run at something like i do (all high, 1280x1024, 6xaa, 16xaf) then there will be minimum difference. Look at the two articles, one says medium, 1024x768, the other is max settings. There is the difference.

Omg. The Difference Is That The Video Card Is Bottlenecking. Can You Understand That? Nothing "partially" Bottlenecks. A Bottleneck Is Complete And Whole.

Well, yes, but if video cards bottleneck all processors out there right now, then then that still means FOR NOW that CPUs don't matter too much to BF2 (because they will still be bottlenecked as we don't see any video cards with like 32 pipelines with clock speeds of 1000/2300mhz).

Again, I direct you to the first part of that article, where the video card did not bottleneck and it showed sufficient CPU differences.

That's what i'm saying, for gamer settings (max settings) the gpu bottlenecks the cpu. So if you want pure speed, then it won't be bottlenecked, although i doubt anybody would need over 500fps lol:laugh: . After all, supposedly, the best human eye (no viisual enhancements, just the naked eye) can't see the frames at all after 60fps, i can't even tell from like 40-50fps lol.
