Ultra High?

I will be upgrading my graphics card soon, to the 7800gtx 512mb.

My system will be looking like this:

Intel Pentium 4 3.4ghz
Kingston 2048mb ddr ram
Sony 19" 12ms
Some crappy motherboard that supports both socket 478 & PCI-E

Will it run everything on Ultra High settings on 1280x1024?

Are you planning to keep the 3.4ghz from another computer or something? If so (I also have 478) there is only a handful of 478's that support pci-e none of them however support SLI. But the rest of your system is nice :).

You're original idea of a 7800gtx 512 is a good one if can afford it (Approximately $650.) That card will definately play it on Ultra High much less High. I found this motherboard at newegg.com. And you'll definately be able to run the game at 1280x1024. Let me know what you think of the motherboard.

You're original idea of a 7800gtx 512 is a good one if can afford it (Approximately $650.) That card will definately play it on Ultra High much less High. I found this motherboard at newegg.com. And you'll definately be able to run the game at 1280x1024. Let me know what you think of the motherboard.

Well, if the 7800GTX 512mb is like 650 bucks when it comes out, it might be better that you buy that X1800XT now, cause it's 512mb, it's as good or better than the current gtx and it's $599.99.

The 7800 gtx 512mb I'm referring to is not yet released (MONDAY BABY!!!). It's stock speeds are 550/1600 mhz. This is around 55gbps memory bandwidth. This card by itself will score around 9000+ 3dmarks in 05 version (with the right hardware backing it up of course). This is the ultra card that nvidia canceled earlier this fall. All they did was keep the GTX name.
