All high on 1280x1024 mode?

I'm gonna buy a new pc for bf2

Palermo 2800+
DDR 2G
6600GT 256MB

Will it work fine at all high on 1280x1024 mode?

And is 1024x768 mode ok for LCD monitor?

1024x768 is good size for resolution but your setting can't handle 1280x1024. You need better processor. maybe perhaps you could play on all high 1280x1024 but its gonna stutter like crazy.

6600gt won't handle, get 6800gt it will. I've got 6800nu 256mb with all high my fps around 40, I like at least 50 fps.

I have a 6800GT and AMD64 3000+ and I can barely run on all high at 1280x1024.

I'd set your sights a little lower

What about 6600GT at 1024x768? Can i run on all high or ultra high?

I'd say half high and half medium.

Ultra high really doesn't exist.

All high settings are really meant for high-end cards...even a 6800GT isn't considered 'high-end' anymore.

A budget/performance card like the 6600GT is more medium gear.

I have A X800PRO VIVO and play all high with 2X AA @ 1280 x 1024 with 50-60 Fps average....

Look at my sig... I have lots of parts overclocked in there... it helps, alot.

I play this game @ 1280x1024 with what I got fine (40+FPS)...that extra ram does help. I'm playing mostly medium, 1 setting (dyamatic shadows) off, 2x AA perfectly fine.

got an XP3000+ 1 gig ram and 6600GT (128mb ddr3 agp)

1024x768 on medium and disabled aa (some settings on high such as effects)
runs with barly any lag, but on rare occasions it will stutter for a second

I noticed you almost have the same hardware as me...

I have all on medium besides effects being on high with aa disabled and 1024x768.

I noticed people say that aa will slow everything down like crazy.
what does aa do ? is it a difference that I can really notice ?

Personally....I just reduced from High to meduim...and the difference was hardly noticeable...however, AA, next to shadows and effects is the most important effect. AA makes the difference between seening a nice curve or a jaggedity edge...(do a search there are pictures posted).

My card can handle all high...but I figure if I can get a .001 second of a jump on someone....then I win...then again....I haven't tested the difference just yet.

I run AA at 4X or it gets annoying.

i dont think thats enough unless OC it. go for at least 3500+
