    Symptoms of a failing video card?

    Do these symptoms sound like my vid card is going bad? Specs below, Vid Card never goes over 60C even after hours of gaming. I did the following in order from top to bottom.

    -Games got considerably slower and would CTD... formatted HD and reinstalled windows
    -All games and 3dMark05 would freeze of get scrambled colors across the screen, with grey blocks in the place of text letters. (81.85 driver on stock clock speeds)
    -reinstalled windows after formatting and everything but BF2 (grey screen at player login) worked fine with both the 81.85 driver and the older ones. Got a 3dmark05 score comparable to my best score, and the other games like Farcry worked fine too.
    -I then had to reinstall windows because it was failing to boot after overclocking the CPU to 2.4Ghz and left everything else stock clock speeds. Even after restoring BIOS to standard settings it wouldn't boot into windows, it would just reset.
    -After 3rd or 4th formatting and installing of Windows XP Pro the same crap is happening from right after my 1st windows reinstall. Now it seems that my videos are occassionally showing up as only green blocks in WMP. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't.

    Is this a sign of a bad graphics card? I've tested my ram and CPU with Memtest86 and Prime95, and there were no errors with them.

    I also get this error message after 3dmark05 crashes:

    Idirect3ddevice9::Present failed: Device Lost (D3DERR_DEVICELOST)

    Thats what it looks like.

      Sounds to me like your card is pretty much dead. Do you have a different card you can use on that computer to test?

        Yeah I am going to throw my old 5600 256MB in there and see what she does.

          Still getting:

          IDirect3ddevice9::Present failed: Device Lost (D3DERR_DEVICELOST)

          Even with the 5600 256MB when trying to run 3dMark05, and Bf2 still crashes to a grey screen. Help!
