    6800GT buying, what kind?!

Alright, I've decided to maybe save up money for a bit longer to invest in a 6800GT than a 100-130 dollar card.

I've heard from some people you can find one for around $200. I've gone 6800GT hunting on NewEgg only to find tons of different models and kinds, not knowing the differences between any of them (besides main performance bits such as memory). But I have no idea what the difference between all the makers are and what cheap ones are worth it.

So, a little help please? I'd like to purchase one from somewhere like NewEgg, but could anyone help me with some links to some low-priced 6800GT's that are good, have 256MB of RAM, and are AGP?

I suggest you check the new 6800 GS out. On par with a 6800 GT for a fraction of the price. I haven't had any luck finding them on newegg.vom, but I'm sure if you did a litle searching you could find one.

By the way? Are you talking canaidna dollars here? Because getting a 6800 GT for 200 USD is not very likely.

Oooooh, I figured the GS was better than the GT, it being newer and all. That looks like a much more interesting buy, and that site you provided had links to places all around the 200 range. Think I'll invest in one of these then >.>

Lowest GS price out there? :p

*just saw your second post* Hmmm, I'll do some searching around then.

The GS was made to compete with the X800XL, and it seems to do just that, usually out-performing it.

You could always wait a bit, invest in a PCI-e MoBo, and then get the GS. That would be a little more pricey, but it would save you from needing to upgrade in the future.. AGP cards are becoming more and more expensive.

I think I might have to do that. I might just go ahead with an ATI X700 at around $120 to tide me over, and atleast play good on low to medium settings, then save up for a new motherboard, new processor, and new videocard (probably a 6800GS).

I just ordered the EVGA 6800GT 256 from newegg after reading the reviews, for my new rig an AMD 64 3700 w/1Mb cache 2 Gig ram should get here tomorrow oh oh cant wait.

The USER reviews on NEWEGG will tell you alot about a component.
