Is it possible to put in a new video card into my Dell?

Im just wondering, I have a 3 GHz 1 gig ram, 9800 pro dell computer. I want to get a 6800 GT agp and put it in. Would it work? Or does Dell make it so I can't upgrade?

They very well might have removed the port because Dell is stingy that way. If you open the case warranty is voided anyway.

My sister's Dell has the AGP slot removed and I know someone else who's is also.

But if you have an AGP slot, then yea, you can install a video card. Just remember to disable the onboard video.

        Custom > Dell.

I would never buy a Dell.....ever. Even if you gave me a free Dell system, I'd probably try to pawn it off somewhere or something, lol.

Dells are only worth it if you're getting a $300 PC. They give you a 17' LCD monitor and practically free windows, which makes the system practically free.

So how do I check for the AGP thingy?
I looked in there once(dont care about my warranty), and the 9800 pro looked standing as any regular card would.

agp card will be inserted in the brown port on the motherboard it
s also the part that the monitor is attached too

agp is the slot that is closest to the cpu

You guys all obviously missed that he siad he already has a 9800 Pro, kind of says right there that the computer has an AGP slot.

Anyway, about the only concern about putting in a 6800GT is whether the PSU is strong enough for it or not. Dell is not known for putting high wattage PSU's in their computers, more like one that is just powerful enough for what comes with the comupter.

You're right! I didn't see that. So now you're probably saying just get a new P.S. as well? W/ the Dell mobo, the P.S. connector will only fit w/ that mobo and not a ATX P.S. You're best bet to upgrade your video card is to.. 1. Get a ATX mid/full case 2. P.S. 3. Videocard 4. New mobo and just use the old components from the dell.. i.e. CD/DVD drives, CPU....etc
