format HD for new mobo?

I was wondering if i HAVE to format my HD for my new mobo. Im hoping i can just delete or use a program to get rid the old mobo drivers.

Anyone know anything i can do so that i dont need to format?

Are the chipsets staying the same? If so you can usually just uninstall the drivers. If your changing chipsets you need to reinstall windows.

Not true, if you change mobo there is no reason for you to have to reinstall winblows even if you go to a different chipset, all you need to do is install the mobo's chipset drivers.

You can get away with the same chipset or even the same type (AMD 32bit atleast. probably same for Intel).

But if you were to make a drastic change like AMD 2000+ 32bit to an AMD 3200+ 64bit, then yes, you'd need to re-format.

I didn't have to, but my friend did, he had AMD and went with a different processor, like from a 754 pin to a 939, i use the same chip but switched motherboards and worked fine.
