    Geforce 7800GTX 512MB release looming.

    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread....hreadid=157864

Even though it's from the Inquirer, I believe it will be released in the next couple of weeks. I HIGHLY reccommend that you read the Guru3d thread before making any judgement.

i hate it when they release a brand new vid card after a few months, i just bought my geforce 256mb 7800gtx one month ago, now they're releasing a 512mb one, i think just getting an sli system would be better

The specs on it are: Core: 580Mhz Memory: 1730Mhz

        Here's a pic of the card: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=973340

There's even a rumor going around that these cards are being used in current PS3 dev-kits, to simulate the RSX (G71) which will be a higher clocked 90nm core version of this card.

Man, I might sell my two gt's and get one of these bad boys. Too bad it takes up two slots, oh well.

512mb really gonna make that much difference?

                  duno about 256 to 512mb

but the 9800 pro 256 is like a 3-4% better than the 128mb one
wait for the g71 or r580

you have to be stupid to buy one when you have already got a gtx

It also has higher clock speeds, so it's not just the 512mbs. Plus games like FEAR and even BF2 do benefit from the extra 256mbs, back when 9800s were around, the texture sizes for most games weren't as demanding as they are today. But I do agree that unless you are an extreme enthusiast, there's no point in going from a gtx to the new 512mb version.

I for one think this will be an excellent card. It will be pushing new technologies so that when the system hog known as Vista comes out, PCs will be able to run it.

I know this takes up 2 slots, according to the pics. but can you run this in SLI if you take the fan/HS out and water cool it?

                            From what I heard...

                            7800GTX 512mb Edition
470mhz Core (stock; some makers are pushing this to 500 or beyond)
512 mb DDR3 @ 1700 mhz @ 1.1 timings (I think this is as high as it will go)
54.4 gb of bandwidth...(I think this is the big kicker, vs the 256 GTX's 37-38gb)
Suggested Price: 599 USD supposely (pushing the 256 GTX's to around probably 499-520 I guess, considering the supply in the market).

This card looks SLI-able...but from a cooling presective...uh...*AC cooling anyone?*

EDIT: Rumor has it that it will be out around Nov 14. Not Confirmed...
