Will you be overclocking at all? If not then anything over DDR400 (PC3200) is useless for you. Then you just need to find which set has the lowest latency within reason because the CAS timings (latency) dont' make a huge difference, but generally the lower the better.

            Hey King,
I need help choosing RAM as well. I plan to use my new rig for gaming and to OC a FX-57. will this do? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227056
The mobo i'm using is DFI SLI-DR socket 939 which I heard is very picky on RAM. Or will that crucial link above you posted work better? I think youre a crucial fanboy huh? Thanks!

If you don't overclock that 4000+, I will be extremely ****ed. :)

                          Re: Which RAM?

umm too expensive... but i will probably MOST LIKELY upgrade to that when i have to funds... so im probably going to get 1gb of that then one more in the near future!

What do you think about that ... and i will be OC'ing...

So if you want ill probably get this ram first and then get another gb of it later on...

OCZ EL Gold Gamer Extreme GX XTC PC3500 1GB 2X512MB DDR433 CL2-2-2-5 184PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit

What do you think its pretty expensive but itll be good for me until i can upgrade to another gb of this stuff... looks pretty sweet and will probably run BF2 on high no problem...

                            Re: Which RAM?

ANY 2GB RAM at all will run BF2 at high. Even 160USD (for 2 GB) Corsair ValueSelect memory will run BF2 at high. What you really need to worry about is the overclocking.

I haven't even heard of the "OCZ EL Gold Gamer Extreme GX XTC." However, I HAVE heard of the OCZ EL Platinum. That'll get you to around 270FSB atleast. 270HTT is higher than you want to overclock anyways (thats 3.24GHz for your 4000+) so it'll be perfect.

If you don't have the money right now; 4 x 512MB Corsair ValueSelect 184-pin DDR400. Thats $160 USD, I dunno how much CAD.

                              Ive put it inbetween two...

                              OCZ Performance PC3200 2GB 2X1GB DDR400 CL3-3-3-8 184PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit W/ Ramsink 290

                              AND

                              OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 2GB 2X1GB DDR400 CL2-3-2-5 184PIN Pin Dual Channel Memory Kit /W Ramsink 336

Is it worth the extra 50 bucks?
