Will I upgrade to another CPU..of course :)
but right now....Im too unsure if the extra money for a "feature" will benefit what I use my PC for....gaming when I have proof that what I have does a great job at it.Comment

Good decision going with that 4000+. Now overclock the mofo to 3.0Ghz and kill the FX-57.
Gsxr310; If money is no option, then go with a AMD Athlon 64 4000+ right now. When Dual Core games come out (a year from now, maybe?) then you could always switch to a Dual Core processor.
Right now, Single-Core PCs totally dominate Dual Core in games. For one, they can sustain higher clock speeds (try taking a X2 4800+ to 3.0GHz), and for two, two cores aeren't even used in games. For now, 99% of games are single-threaded. That means that only one of the two cores on a Dual Core CPU gets used. A $1000 X2 4800+ will perform the same as a $350 single-core 4000+ (maybe a little better if you have background tasks running). But you can overclock the 4000+ (2.4GHz) to 3.0Ghz easily, on stock cooling. Try doing that with a 4800+ and you'll probably have a hard time getting to 2.8GHz.

Once again, thanks for your replies! And I am leaning towards the 4000. Since I have the mobo to OC it (DFI nf4 SLI-DR), I also know that these boards are picky at which RAM you purchase. I plan on getting 2x1GB PC3200, but which one? OCZ Platinum or Crucial Ballistix? And I need to get low latency right (to OC the 4000)? also, will i have problems OC'ing w/ 2x1GB? First of all; Its overrated that the DFI Lanparty series is picky about the RAM. The only RAM that it MIGHT have a problem with, is the Corsair valueSelect series. As for the ones you listed, either of those 2 RAMs would be fine. I've heard of higher overclocks from the OCZ Platinum though (I wish I had it). As for low latency; not really. Timings don't make a huge difference, and you will DEFINATELY not notice the difference in games. Each of those RAMs can do atleast 250MHz, so timings shouldn't be a problem.
Yea, 2 x 1GB memory sticks don't overclock AS WELL as 2 x 512MB. As a rule of thumb, the less the memory, the higher it will overclock. That doesn't mean you won't get some damn nice overclocks from the memory though. Simply 250MHz HTT and Memory will give you 3.0GHz from that 4000+.

I have that DFI board you have just not sli and it is a really awsome board!
I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread that the ballistix benchmarks a little better but I haven't seen it...or looked should I say. I got the OCZ Platinum in 2x1gig and it is FAST!!!Comment

Eh, I'd choose the OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 over the Crucial Ballistix if I were you. About 5x more people have the OCZ so you'll have more support too. Not to mention that the OCZs use TCCD chips (awesome overclockers) which the Crucial Ballistix uses BH-5s, I believe.
If you want 2 x 1Gb memory, the go with this;
If you want cheaper 4 x 512MB memory, then 2 orders of these;

Im looking to get almost the same setup but am getting some very high quality OCZ RAM and its costing quite a pretty penny so i can OC everything...

on my current system I run BF2 everything high, 4xAA at 1280x1046 and it never goes below 60fps even on crazy action. No hitching or pauses, nothing.Comment

Meh, they're the same IMO. The Gold Series is just 2 x 1GB sticks. I don't think they make 2 x 1GB Platinum Rev.2 sticks so if you want 2 x 1GB...Gold series. Its obviously also more expensive. Gold Series also does about 270MHz.Originally posted by gsxr310
