What Graphics card (AGP) is the best for my computer?

My specs are:

ASUS A8V deluxe
AMD 64 3800+ Venice @ 2.4ghz
1.5gb of RAM

IMHO you should go for NVidia. Not because the cards are better, ATI do tend to get better benchmarks, but because the drivers are more stable. Every ATI card I've had has had driver problems.

I have an NVidia 7800GTX now, and it rocks!

Probably either the NVidia 6800 Ultra or the ATI X850 XT PE if money is not a problem. If you are on a budget consider a NVidia 6600 GT.

I've just brought a 6600GT 128mb

With a 64 bit you should be looking at the 256 6800 GT or the X range of ATI cards

AGP is getting few and far between. PCI-E is where it's going. AGP was better but, PCI-e has faster transfer. Dont confuse it w/ PCI. Completely different. If you dont want to switch motherboards any time soon, find the best AGP card out, which is the Radeon X850XT PE and buy it. It's got everything except shader model 3, which is just now coming out. If you can wait 2 yrs, you will be fine.

I believe the X850XT PE comes in AGP form as well as PCI-Express. If it does get it. The driver stability issues are mainly due to improper installs and things like that. I have NEVER had an issue with ANY drivers from ATI. I have been using ATI graphics for the last 5 years.

Yeah the X850xt pe does come in AGP, but you have to hunt it down, I did, just got it, and its an awesome card. Cheap too, i paid 250.00 delivered. King is right about the drivers, mine have been working great.

There isnt any plans for the nvidia 7-series going AGP, or at least last I heard.

Best AGP cards for that system: nvidia's 6800 GT and ultras, and ATI's 800XL/XTs and 850's. Good cards either way, take a company and pick.

Um, depends on which game, but supposedly, the X850XT PE does better overall, but it came out like 6 months later than the 6800Ultra. Anyways, best card for AGP: X850 XT PE, Good bang for the buck cards for agp: 6600GT, X800XL, possibly 6800GT (not sure though, havn't checked the AGP prices in ages for the 6800GT)
