Overclocking 6800GT, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.GB of Ram, How too?

I have an 6800 Gt, everything on high and its awesome but im curious to see what it could do, I know It will be killer.

    6800GT
    AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+
    2.01GHz
    2.00 GB of RAM

On my computer I have easytune. Ive looked at how too before but I cant find what im looking for in the BIOS its werid..

With some mother boards its in the bios and with some others its a jumper setting. Even some that say you cant over clock on this mother board, can be over clocked if you change the crystal out (you have to desolder the old crystal and solder in a new one). I have an ASUS P5DG and its very easy to over clock, its in the bios. I would read the info that came with your mother board or go to the manufactures web sight, the info should be there.

There are some things to remember though. First, if you have a "bundeled" (for lack of a better word), a preassembled computer, such as a Dell, Gateway, Compaq, etc. its not going to be worth the extra trouble to even try and over clock the computer. Second, after your computer is running the program, what ever it is, as good as it possibly can you probably arent going to notice any difference. Third, be sure and creep the clocking up, I would say start at 103% and increase by 3 to 5 per cent or about .02 GHZ, then when you go past the upper limit all the computer will do is freeze up or go black and you shouldnt have to worry about frying anything. It would be a good Idea however to shut the computer down ASAP when this happens.

When the upper limit is established I would back the clocking back down about 15% or to the orignal setting which ever is higher to allow for the effects of heat.

I have a 6600 256mb card and have been brave enough to run it at 115%, all settings high playing BF2, without any noticeable problems. I ran it back down because I didnt notice any difference in performance and didnt see the point in making the extra heat. The card got a little hotter at the higher clock speed, I didnt check the Temp. though.

    Good luck with your project...Red

The days of overclocking really are gone. Modern PC's like the one you have dont need to be overclocked because they already are at good speeds.

yes and no, but his sytem can go harder and maybe gain some extra FPS in a game or maybe some settings could be set higher.

For your vid cardm just use rivatuner, small prog wich give you the chance to change the core and memory clock of your card, butbe aware of temperature and artifacts .

Fory your CPU , well, look in your bios to you frontside bus and crap

the memory, don't know wicdh ram it is, wich latency it has and stuff, in some motherboads you can set the bios to the latency of your ram

I overclock my cpu (1,8 Ghz 3000+ ==> 1,93) gpu but never did RAM. Think it's too dangerous

I remember back in the day when I bought an Intel Celeron 266a or something like that specifically because I could overclock it to 450 or some such thing.

I'm GLAD those days are over...

I'll check that out thanks. Im postive I can get it to go alot further. It is awesome all by itself but I wonder what I can do.

For the guy who said I have a preassembled computer, I dont. I bought everything seperate and put it together myself.:)

                  for Athlon64
                  lower ur HTT to 3X
try to get as high FBS as possible which really depends on ur ram
if it crashed then give some more voltage
                  good luck .

the new venice core is really good at oc and produce little heat plus it has some sort of shut down function if u r fukin it up ~ so be brave and gives it a try ~
                  i oc my 3000+ to 2.5G .. see much improvement on BF2 ..
some extra fps .. but not worth the risk ..
                  have fun

                      GO HERE

                      www.OCFORUMS.com

they helped me take my AMD about 500mhz overclock.

                        1) Jumper settings aren't used anymore for overclocking purposes.
                        2) If things like FSB/HTT and AGP/PCI are greyed-out in your BIOS, you probably are the proud owner of a prebuilt. Which means you need to overclock with software, and that is a hassle. Since your AGP/PCI (PCI-E) won't be locked, your video performance will be messed up and cracky over an 5% increase.
                        3) Overclocking is a thing of all times. Newer, more demanding applications and games will always be made. I can't see that 3500 run Unreal Tournament 2007 smooth yet .
                        4) www.overclock.net
                        5) If you overclock, make sure you have decent RAM. You don't want to run a divider on your RAM (although it isn't all that bad), it will give you less performance than running it 1:1 at the same speeds.
                        6) The 6800GT can be flashed and overclocked to a 6800Ultra. Check www.overclock.net for FAQs or google it

Man if you jack with overclocking you will end up melting it and the mother board too.

If you say so. Ive seen AMDs do that when they werent even overclocked.
