For one of the posts on the first page, you can't go DDR2 with AMD. Nice try though.
I have an 4400+ running at 2.75GHz completely stable. I paid a lot less for mine than an FX57 and I get either comparable performance or better performance. If you never plan to OC and just run it completely stock, then yes a 57 is the way to go. Buy why not save almost half and spend it on something else?
Plus, screw those HDs, get a 76GB Raptor or 2. Plus, use the extra money for a nice watercooling setup for a couple hundred. Plus, you could get a decent 5.1 surround sound for the money you save on an X2.

OK, i say get at least 2xevga 7800GTX KO edtion (more overclocked), a FX55/4600+ X2 processor or more, a X-fi sound card, a nice case ( like from lian li, or thermaltake, or antec), and of course good peripherals like a Razer Copperhead, or a great monitor etc. Yu got a lot to spend with 4000 bucks.

Monitor: 19" 12ms ViewSonic LCD - $259.00 - where can i get this monitor at I bought a realsync for $311 but it was a 17 inch the seek times was 8ms though, but this one looks good. I have since returned the 17 inch monitor and looking around for a 19 inch

OK, i say get at least 2xevga 7800GTX KO edtion (more overclocked),

Hold it there, the KO edition comes with faster clocks and it is proven that normal 7800GTX from EVGA can reach those speeds EASY.

So i would save the money and get the EVGA 7800GTX and oc it yourself.

But again, you could overclock the KO edition further than a regular GTX, cause one, it comes with a better, copper cooler, and two, it's manufactury overclocked, which means that it stil has a lot to overclock.

How about getting a non OC 7800GTX (eVga) and watercooling it (w/ a good water block)and then OC it? wouldn't that save you money? As for choice of CPU (AMD, of course), I'm looking at the FX-57. Do any of you think it's a waste of money? I plan to do alot of gaming.. but can I OC a FX-55 to get it at 57 speeds or better? I have a DFI SLi-DR mobo(socket 939) and was having a hard time choosing which CPU. I've compiled my list, and it came less than $3,000.00. Can anyone tell me if my choice of RAM is good.. for OC? And the videocard will be changed to the non-OC eVga.

Unless your planning to overclock your CPU (which there isnt any need to considering its top of the line atm)

Then you dont need PC4200 ram like someone suggested.. it does you absolutly no good

Yup, PC4200 is useless because no processor will ever use that clock. As far as everything else, I have sent him a revised list via e-mail and we are discussing things right now.
