Whats Broken?

With all of my games at the mo i can only play for about 10 seconds before something goes wrong. Whether its the picture frezing and my speakers letting out a high pitch squeal til i reset or my vpu reseting. Im guessing somethings broken but what? If it helps before the crash (the whole 5 seconds) there are lots of graphical glitches and white dots everywhere. This only happens once the game engine is loaded as i can still use desktop and the game menus fine.

Ive got:
AMD Athlon 3200+
1gb of unbranded ram in the form of 2x512 sticks (could it be this?)
Radeon 9800 pro 128mb

It's probably your video card. I hear those 9800 Pros cause computers to just randomly crash and explode and stuff.

You probably should start checking a lot of things. I would be concerned about the RAM, but it doesn't mean anything until you've ruled out other possible causes. What is your CPU temp? Have you run virus/spyware scans? Could there be some software conflicts? Could be your MOBO, or a lot of other things.

I suggest you gather more information, as much as possible.

I had the same problem with similar spec (in my sig), I've jsut sent my ram back after finding that it had in excess of 100,000 errors run a mem test and see if you have any errors.

You know the high pitch squeel? If you RESET (as in reset button not turn off turn on) when booting up system speaker beeps? I did checked my mobo documentation told me it was memory error, then I had to power down then back up, then was told that settings had been changed.

They were DDR DIMM:266 (usually is 400).

Hence me sending my ram back!

I've got 256mb in here right now, no BF2 for some time
