Poorer performance since upgraded to Forcewear 81.85

Anyone else experiencing this? Areas take longer to cache when I enter them, and when zoomed in with the sniper rifle, objects have a jittery off-white halo. Also, when landing a helicopter, the mipmapping on the ground transitions harshly.

If you're talking specifically about Clean Sweep, that is a wonderful new bug introduced with BF2 v1.03...and has nothing to do with drivers.

If you're seeing this problem on OTHER maps...then it's your drivers

Well, that kinda sucks that your performance got worse, I'd recommend going back to 77.77. That being said, I love the new drivers, not because they increase performance, but because everything seems so much... smoother now. It's really hard to describe the difference.

I have a (literally) identical system to you, and I've had no problems.

Yeah, the mipmap problem was on Clean Sweep. Weird.

Hmmm, maybe I have some system maintenance to do. . .

I didn't notice a single difference before and after upgrading! None of the texture bugs are fixed, but no new ones are introduced either.. And my FPS is the same :)

Revert back to older drivers if you've got problems - or perhaps try some non-official drivers like Omega?

After installing the new one 3dMark score went from 4300 to 4000, so I dumped the drivers even before tried BF2. On the other hand, despite the lower score 3DMark (and lower FPS) demos looked smoother, so I may re-check it in the future.

It's a bug with v1.03 ... so far, I have found no fix other than reverting back to v1.02 (which I'm not about to do).

                    I'm living with it :|:

Generally when a new series of 3D cards come out from Nvidia new drivers are geared towards these. I've seen this since I had a TNT2 Ultra. Sometimes you can even experience a serious performance drop by upgrading to newer drivers.

On my ATI card (I have a 6800U and a X800XT) I use NGO 5.8 drivers even if 5.10 are available. The newer drivers might look slightly better but they perform worse and that means more choppiness on some of the levels.

on my bfg 6800 gt using 81.85 drivers the sandbags on maps are like a mirror, I think I might switch back the the other drivers
