Looking for a nice set of headphones with built in Mic but NOT USB

    Peeps,

Need your help here. I currently have a Kliscph speaker set up and a mic but would like to augment them with a Headphone / microphone combo for BF2.

Since I have a good sound card, I'd like one that plugs both the headphone and microphone into my sound card (so two seperate plugs) rather than an USB connector.

I'm looking for a very good set with about a $100 budget, so if anyone could recommend a pair I'd love it hear it. The only to caveats are non USB and a good quality microphone as I use ingame VOIP quite a bit as squad leader.

    Thanks in advance.

I use the Logitech Gamers, some people have complained about them, but I have had no problems at all. The mic is great and the sound is decent enough to keep me happy.

Thanks for replying. Do they have a USB interface or do they have seperate inputs for Mic and speaker for a sound card?

EDIT: Found them and they do look good. Just curious though why do some people complain about them and you mentioned the sound is just decent. Can you explain a bit more on that?

I'm going to try a pair of LTB 5.1 surround headphones...

The best choice in Surround Sound Headphones and Multimedia accessories

They come in USB and non-USB models. I am going to try the non-USB model linked above. Very neat idea.

Talus thanks for the post. Looking at the review on Egg head there are quite a few negative one's citing a constant buzzing noise do to the unclean USB power source. Apparently it can drive you bonkers. :)

          Just be aware of that.

I am gonna get a pair of these black siberia headphones:

I used them when I was in Finland, and I gotta say they really impressed me. The sound was really good and they're super comfortable, I could wear them for hours (which I did :p ).

A lot of people don't like that back mounting (the bridge goes along the back of your head) and I read 1 review saying that his were defective. But I still stand by them. Yes they do have seperate inputs. The only knock I have on them is they are stereo so the sound is either on one side or another, and it can be kinda weird sometimes. But then again I don't switch my settings to headphones and I just keep it on 5.1 the whole time, which could be part of it.

K thanks guys. Yes that back mounting may be wierd as it could slide down the back of your head, which would be odd. One final question, does the Mic on the logitec headphone telescope? It's hard to tell even on Logitecs's website on through the picture. By telescoping I mean extending out more so it can be directly placed in front of your mouth.

Sir MatDef thanks for posting the IceMat headphones. The only issues I see with those is the microphone is a clip on kind which I've found (for BF2 anyway) to not be idea if you use VOIP heavily which I do. A boom mic alows you to speak directly into the Microphone for better sound volume and control where a clip on style mic will cost you some volume and clarity as it's not by your mouth.

But also the buzzing is usually eliminated by plugging the USB dongle into a USB hub that has its own power source...which I have.

Sooo...I haven't purchased them YET because I cannot buy them locally. I'd have to special order them. Which would make returning them a hassle.
