Depends if you can run dual channel on your motherboard. 2 x 512MBs running dual channel will be quicker that 1 x 1GB. -

if your mobo only has 3 slots then you can only put another 512 in, if it has four, i would get 2x1gb and use that in dual channel, then get another couple of gig sticks at a later date and stop faffin around with the 512's. if you can afford it of course, failing that get 2 x 512's so 2gb total (4x512's) and match the brand and speedComment
