If I get a router for a second computer can I run stuff on both without having connection problems and stuff?

What do you mean by "stuff?"
If you want BF2 on both, you shouldn't have a problem. I had two computers running BF2 through my router and didn't experience any degradation in play.

yeah ,that and browsing the net. I thought I heard somewhere that routers can cause connection problems. thanks:)

I just set one up and had very little difficulty with anything. It is best to know what all of the settings mean and you might have to unlock ports for certain programs.

My router, at first, did need to be rest a bunch. . . however, I haven't had any problem with it for well over month now.

I have anywhere from 3-6 machines sharing my network at the same time that I am playing. I have never had an issue with my router or connection - I constantly ping the server I regularly play on at 40ms or less.

Network is being shared while playing by:
I have the internet up on one machine with the stat pages for myself and my clan mates on my left monitor - always able to tell them what they need for badges, etc. My main gaming rig (center monitor) has teamspeak, ventrillo, xfire, and BF2 all running at the same time. My third monitor I have 2 different server software programs running that help keep tabs on the server with admin duties, along with this same machine hosting my teamspeak server, web server, and email client/server always running. Sometimes I even have my laptop hooked up in addition (wireless or wired either way) and using VPN to do work from home during map loads. Oh yeah, and a print server also shares a connection on that router, but that is pretty much dormant during gaming unless I decide to print off some stat pages.

I am on a cable connection and have no issues.

Routers are the only way to go in my book for home networks - even if you have just one machine. At least you have a hardware firewall seperate from your PC that you can control from any machine on your network.

I've got My PC , 2 kids PCs , a server and a laptop all hanging off my wireless router on a 8Mb connection mate and have no connection probs , normal ping to Uk and Europe servers is 15 .

I run 2 computers on one connection with a wireless router. When I play I do hard wire into the router but yes there are no problems, you just need to set up the security on it if you do go wireless.......

Same thing; I go with a wired connection because if I use wireless when someone uses the microwave I lose my game connection. My brother and I both play BF2 online at the same time from the same network through a WAP/switch/router.

What's weird is that it only seems to affect BF2. Regular surfing and other games seem fine.
