    Graphics Card Heatsink Fan NOISY

OK so being a male I've obviously opened up my computer and fiddled around with bits I don't know what do and unscrewed components I don't even know the name of before consulting someone with more knowledge than me:P

My graphics card is making a gritty kind of buzz sound. Upon investigation with a screwdriver and a wreckless will I have found out that it is the heatsink on my gfx card. More pacifically one of the fans on it. I've blasted it with air, attacked it with a tiny brush, everything to get all the grit and dust that i can out but it still makes the noise. The noise kind of sounds like... a rubbing sound.

When I was looking at the fan inside i moved it around with my finger and could feel it kind of, rub the base every half a turn. So my question is, should I take the fan out and clean it with a brush more or would putting WD40 around it be advisable .

Hope when you blasted it with air that you put something on the fan to stop it from spinning. A blast of compressed air can do more damage to a fan in a couple of seconds, than weeks of continuous running.

Anyway, you're on the right track about lubricating the fan. I usually recommend using something like 3-in-1 oil or sewing machine oil. All you do is remove the fan from the heatsink and on the underside there should be a sticker covering the center. Gently peel the sticker off and put a small drop of oil in. Then give the fan a gentle blow to spin it and work the oil in, then replace the sticker and put the fan back in the heatsink.

I say if you get a new GPU heatsink, get a Zalman VF-700ALCU, or VF-700CU, they are the best on the market atm.
