anti aliasing problem

the other day i overclocked my 6800gt and it ran fine but very hot, so i put it back to normal. everything ran fine for about 2 days.
and now i playing a game and it will look fine for about 10 minutes, then later it looks like i have no antialising on even though i have all settings to high
do u think i messed up my gfx card by overclocking

there meant too run pretty hot anyway with the 6800GT so ive heard.

My mates one idles at 80 degrees and thats supposedly normal operation for the gpu.

by very hot i mean 80C+, and before i ever overclocked i was running at 60 idol and 70-75 playing bf2, but now im gettign like 85, I havea screenshot that i took of what the aa looks like

Have you tryed to take it out ? maybe its melted with your main board

use an arctic cooler instead of the stock fan - that'll bring your idle and load temps down

sorry but yeah you might have damage it, not much i can say about it, wehre you using the nvidia drivers?? if so, there's something on it call sentinel that hsould have protect the card from running too hot and too fast???

yeah, buy a new one. once you overclock something it creates more heat, silicon melts with heat, so it should awnser it self, you migh not have fry it, but damage it, you can always just keep on playing the way it is, lower the graphics see if i helps, and like someone said, uninstall all the drivers run driver cleaner, shut down computer, remover card, clean and i mean dust it off, see if you see anything wrong smell it, see if it smells like burn, installed back on, and start computer, install drivers, and try out!

a friend of mine has an MSI 6600GT and he said that his began to run very hot, and caused some problems, i suggested that he buy this:

he got it, and installed it. he said that his card runs alot cooler, and he was able to overclock it pretty well.

so you might wanna check that fan out, its only $24.99

Cant tell you wether or not you goofed the card up, but if you have an Nvida, the standard softwaredrivers thatt came with it (I guess unless you disabled it or installed it after you got it from dell) would have warned you that the card was getting to hot. and I think the threshold is set to 127c (At least that is what is set to my 6800 (Non-gt)

We have almost the same system (Exception is the video card) and that is what was standard set for my GFX card under the temp settings.

Try updating your drivers to the 81.85... (www.nvidia.com (Just released). See if that changes anything. Not sure if it is possible, but could something in the software been altered with his overclocking?
